The 2nd XJTLU International Conference on Applied Linguistics in the AI Era & The 2nd Scientific Discourse Research Forum — will take place at Xi’an Jiaotong–Liverpool University (XJTLU) in Suzhou, China, from 7–9 November 2025.
Organised by the Department of Applied Linguistics, the XJTLU Centre for Cultural Communication and Society, and the Language, Literature and Science Research Committee of the Chinese Society for the History of Science and Technology, the event explores collaborative innovation in applied linguistics, literature, and scientific research in the AI era.
We are especially excited about the EMI Special Symposium, co-led with BALEAP EMI SIG, focusing on the fast-evolving English-Medium Instruction landscape in China — its opportunities, challenges, and cross-disciplinary innovations.
In the opening speech by BALEAP EMI SIG Chair Dr. Mustafa Akıncıoğlu, he will reflect on AI and EMI contexts, exploring how these two dynamic forces are reshaping international higher education.
The programme features an outstanding line-up, including Prof. Cai Jigang (Fudan University), Prof. Baocheng Han (Beijing Foreign Studies University), Prof. Hu Kaibao (Shanghai International Studies University), Prof. Glenn Stockwell (Waseda University, Japan), Prof. Wei Naixing (Beihang University), Prof. Wen Xu (Southwest University), and Prof. Lawrence Jun Zhang (University of Auckland, New Zealand) — sharing insights on applied linguistics, multilingualism, TESOL, and AI.
